The movie, Shawshank Redemption, is a powerful if slightly raw movie that completely averts the normal sceme of a prison movie. In class we watched the movie for about a week in 40 minute sessions, which drove my classmates and me insane with suspense and agitation. when I watched the movie, I felt very strange, when i would go into the classroom, I would feel very neutral and calm, but after seeing the movie, I would feel like I was an animal in a cage, and everyone around me was an enemy. In short when I watched the movie, it felt like I was the one in prison, and even when i told myself that i was being crazy, it would still take several minutes before i settled down. it however is a reasonable response when you see this movie, because you empathize with the characters and the time shifts flow together so well that you forget that you're watching them live and you are not there yourself. while Shawshank is a wonderful movie, it doesn't seem to have much of a rewatch value as it is a movie that thrives in suspense and mystery, so while i greatly enjoyed watching the movie, without the heart racing suspense that pushes the film in motion, i most likely will not be watching it again.
